February 2016: Jack McLean – 60 years of road safety

Jack McLean has had a wealth of experience in Road Safety.  He is Emeritus Professor at the Centre for Automotive Safety Research at the University of Adelaide and a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.  He is an engineer by training and has a doctorate in epidemiology from Harvard University.

On 9 February 2016, Jack gave a very informative seminar about the successes and failures in road safety over the past 60 years.

He focussed on the following topics:

  • Crashworthiness
  • Distracted driving
  • Seeing and being seen
  • Alcohol and other drugs
  • Speed
