2022 International Women in Engineering Day

ITE-ANZ and Transportation Group New Zealand celebrated International Women in Engineering Day on 23 June 2022 by showcasing four incredible women in the Transport Engineering sector.

  • Jesmina Patel – Graduate Engineer at Auckland Transport

Jesmina has recently begun her career as an engineer in Auckland Transport’s Graduate program. She has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Construction Engineering from Auckland University of Technology. Jesmina is passionate about making a real and positive impact in the community.

  • Subeh Chowdhury – Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering Transport at The University of Auckland

Subeh has worked both in the industry as an engineer for three years and as an academic for nine years. Her research expertise is in transport equity, gender, and public transport travel behaviour. Subeh graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Hons) and Doctor of Philosophy (Civil Engineering) in 2014.

  • Sarah Zhang – Integrated Transport and Mobility Practice Lead, NSW & ACT at Aurecon in Sydney

Sarah has a background in transport planning, and she specialises in leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver state significant and city-shaping transport infrastructure projects. Sarah currently works as the Integrated Transport and Mobility Practice Lead at Aurecon in Sydney and has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, both from the University of Melbourne.

  • Deborah Donald – Managing Director at O’Brien Traffic in Melbourne

Deborah has worked at O’Brien Traffic since 1997 and has been Managing Director since 2011. O’Brien Traffic undertakes a wide range of traffic and transport engineering activities for private clients as well as many local Councils, the Department of Transport and other organisations involved in road projects.  Prior to joining O’Brien Traffic Deborah spent 7 years with ARRB, and before that she spent 7 years with VicRoads.  Deborah has a BE (Civil) from the University of Melbourne, and a MEngSc (Research) from Monash University.
