Hussein Dia is professor of Civil Engineering specialising in future urban mobility research. His interests are in the convergence of technology, infrastructure and human elements in urban environments. His current work is focused on decarbonisation of urban transport and harnessing digital innovations to unlock opportunities for smart and sustainable mobility futures. His standing in the field is demonstrated by more than 150 publications including manuscripts and books on ITS, low carbon mobility for sustainable cities, and a forthcoming handbook on AI in transport. He is ranked in the Stanford University Global Scientist Citation Rankings in the top 2% most cited scientists in the field of Logistics and Transportation. He is Fellow of ITE, Fellow of Engineers Australia, and Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He currently serves as Senior Editor for the international journal IEEE Transactions on ITS.
Prof Hussein Dia talked about the role of AI in shaping smart and sustainable mobility futures. He explained how advances in AI will create rapid improvements in road safety, improve public transport provisions, reduce congestion and emissions, make travel times more reliable, and improve the economics and productivity of vital transport assets.
