February 2015: Where next for road authorities?

Research points to efficiency gains

This seminar was held at RMIT University on 3 February 2015.

Road authorities are facing unprecedented economic, social and environmental demands in what infrastructure and services they provide and how they provide them. Innovation and lateral thinking are required in agencies and governments for roads to play new roles in a 21st Century city.

Professor David Hensher’s background and experience have enabled him to understand the big issues facing road authorities. In this seminar, he outlined the big challenges and focused on the key areas of:

  • Improved traffic assignment modelling for transport planning
  • Road pricing reform
  • Education for transport professionals.
