Public Transport for Melbourne: Where’s the Plan?
You may be interested in attending this public forum, hosted by the RMIT Centre for Urban Research.
In August 2016, over 300 people gathered at RMIT for a forum called ‘What’s the Plan?’, to hear about the transport issues facing Melbourne. Over a year later, with projects such as the West Gate Tunnel and the North East Link moving swiftly despite rising opposition, there are increasing calls from the community for a Victorian Transport Plan. Why do we need one, and what should such a plan cover? What strategic issues are at stake? What are the risks we face from technological disruption to transport provision? What are the governance arrangements that need to be in place, and the risks we face if they are not? How can the community engage with the issues to ensure that the 2018 election puts a more sustainable city front and centre?
