There is a current debate about whether engineering should be included on the Skilled Occupations List (SOL). Migrants with qualifications on the SOL will find it easier to get working visas or temporary graduate visas.
Mining Engineer and Petroleum Engineer were removed from the SOL on 1 July 2016.
Engineers Australia seems to support the other engineering categories remaining on the SOL while Professionals Australia (APEA) is lobbying hard to have them removed.
