Your Local Committee
The committee of the ITEANZ is comprised of the members mentioned below and consists of formal positions including President, Treasurer and Secretary and occasional members who assist with the various tasks undertaken by the committee.
The committee's role is to co-ordinate the activities of the ITE at the local level in Australia and New Zealand .
Daniel Przychodzki
ITEANZ President
Senior
Transport and Traffic Engineer, Knox City Council
Daniel Przychodzki is the Senior Engineer in the
Transport and Traffic team at Knox City Council, Victoria.
Prior to joining Knox Council, Daniel worked with
VicRoads Traffic and Transport Integration Department, RACV's
Public Policy Department and traffic engineering consultants Turnbull Fenner (now known as Traffix Group).
Daniel first joined the Institute of Transportation Engineers
(ITE) as a Student Member in 1998, and became an Associate Member not long after he graduated in 1999.
Now a Member of ITE, he has held a position on the ITE Australian and New Zealand Section
Executive Board since 2001. Occupying the position as Section Secretary in 2004 and 2005 (August),
Vice President in 2006, Acting President in 2007 and now President of
the Section.

Derrick Hitchins
ITEANZ Vice-President
Derrick
is currently the Director Traffic and Transport at Hyder Consulting
Pty Ltd. Along with his involvement with the ITE, Derrick is a
member of the Australian Institute of Engineers of Australia (Civil
Chapter), the New Zealand Institute of Civil Engineers
(Transportation Group), and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)

Derrick has over 20 years of engineering experience across the civil
and transportation sectors in South Africa, United Kingdom, New
Zealand and Australia. Derrick manages the Hyder Consulting
Victorian Transportation Division based in Melbourne and maintains
close working relationships with the other Hyder Australian offices
in Sydney and Brisbane, Wellington, New Zealand, United Kingdom and
the Middle East.
Derrick has a high-level of specialist expertise in traffic
engineering, transport modelling (including toll modelling),
transport strategy/policy development, transportation planning, and
economic analysis and is a skilled project manager. He also has a
keen interest in the world of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS),
Advanced Traffic Management Systems, Toll Road Infrastructure and
Systems Design. Derrick has also project managed a range of
significant civil engineering projects, strategic planning studies
and public transport initiatives involving multi-disciplinary teams
and government department heads. His various international
experiences have equipped him to handle a wide range of projects
across different industry groups.
Derrick became a member of ITE in late 2005 and was
elected to the ITE Australian and New Zealand Section
Executive Board in 2008 as Vice President.

Emma Donnelly
ITEANZ Treasurer
Emma
Donnelly is a Traffic Engineer who works part time as a consultant at
O’Brien Traffic with the balance of her time spent as a traffic
engineer at the City of Glen Eira. Prior to joining O’Brien Traffic,
Emma worked as an analyst for a transport consultancy in the USA.
Emma’s particular interests include pedestrian and
cyclist sensitive design, geometric design, community consultations
and crash investigations.
Emma joined the ITE as a student and became an
Executive Board member of ITEANZ in 2004 upon returning to Australia.
Emma has carried out the role of Secretary from 2005 to 2007 and is now the
Treasurer of the Section.

Keith Midson
ITEANZ Secretary
Keith
is a traffic engineer and transport planner with 13 years experience
in both public and private sectors. Keith is the Manager of GHD’s
Transportation group in Tasmania and is also an Honorary Associate
with the University of Tasmania where he lectures Transportation
Engineering on a part time basis. He has two Masters degrees in the
fields of Traffic and Transport and has worked on numerous large and
small scale transportation projects throughout Australia and the
Middle East. He has managed projects ranging from integrated transport
studies, strategic transport planning projects, traffic impact
assessments, transport modelling, and road safety studies.
Keith joined ITE in 2004 and was elected to the
Executive Board in 2006, becoming
Treasurer in 2008.

Peter McCombs
District 8 Representative on ITE International Board
& ITEANZ Executive Board Member
Peter
is the Chairman of Traffic Design Group Ltd of New Zealand and has
over 35 years experience in traffic engineering.
He has acted as the manager of the Auckland Travel
Demand Project for Transit New Zealand for the last 4 years.

Peter Hunkin
ITEANZ Immediate Past President
Peter has over 25 years experience in the traffic engineering and transport planning fields, mostly in a consulting environment, and currently
works with Sinclair Knight Merz. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Engineering Science degree in Traffic and Transport.
Peter completed a four-year stint as President of
ITEANZ, (from 2003 to 2006) and has been a Member of ITE for over 15 years and a member of the Executive Board of ITEANZ for nearly 10 years. His achievements include coordination of the 2002 ITEANZ Regional Conference and involvement in the Local Arrangements Committee of the 2005 ITE Annual Meeting and Exhibit, both held in Melbourne Australia.

Chris Dack
ITEANZ Membership Co-Ordinator
Chris
has over 38 years experience in the management of road and traffic
management issues, almost all of it with the Victorian state road
authority, VicRoads, and its predecessor organisations. Chris has a
Diploma of Civil Engineering, a Bachelor of Engineering, and a Master
of Business Administration. His work has involved road and bridge
design and construction, traffic and road safety engineering (almost
all of this in a rural environment), statutory planning, traffic
impact studies, community consultation and responses to community
issues, and advice and negotiation with fellow traffic managers
including police and municipal staff.
Chris has a particular interest in transport issues,
being also involved in a voluntary capacity with a railway heritage
group, and therefore has an important role in rail transport
accreditation, giving a unique perspective to interface issues between
road and rail.
Chris currently works as Team Leader - Traffic
Management at VicRoads' North Eastern Victoria Region, based at
Benalla in North Eastern Victoria.
Chris has been a member of ITE for around twenty
years, and has been a member of the ITEANZ Executive Board for the
past four years, currently serving as membership coordinator.

Mark O'Brien
ITEANZ Executive Board Member, Webmaster,
Newsletter Editor
Mark O'Brien
is a Senior Traffic Engineer/Modeller at O'Brien Traffic. He holds Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Melbourne and has worked as a traffic engineering consultant in the United States and Australia since graduating in 2002. Mark has been a member of ITE since commencing as a Student Member in 2000. Mark's specific areas of interest in the transportation profession include:
- Freeway operations
- Public transport priority; and
- Micro-simulation modelling
Mark has been a member of ITE since joining as a
student member in 2000. He joined the Executive Board in August
2005
and has performed the roles of webmaster and newsletter editor since
that time.

Andrew Somers
ITEANZ Executive Board Member
Andrew
Somers is Senior Engineer - Network Strategy at VicRoads, working on
congestion management policy and programs for Melbourne. He has a
Master of Traffic and Master of Transport from Monash
University.
Since graduating at the end of 2003, Andrew has
worked on a variety of projects including the Freeway Management
System for the Monash - CityLink - West Gate Upgrade and traffic
management for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. He is a past
president of the Monash Student Chapter of ITE and has been the
Student Chapter Liaison Officer since 2005.

Peter Daly
ITEANZ Executive Board Member
Peter Daly is the Chief Engineer Traffic
and Roads at RACV, the automobile club of Victoria, Australia. He leads a team
responsible for providing advocacy and information services to RACV members
and the wider community on issues such as road safety, road infrastructure, traffic
management, traveller information and transport regulation. Peter sits on a number of government advisory councils
and expert bodies and is a regular spokesperson on transport policy and road safety in the technical and mass media. Prior to
joining RACV, he lectured in civil engineering at Monash University and worked as a specialist consultant in the transport
industry, primarily as an expert witness. Peter continues to teach road safety engineering in Monash's undergraduate and
postgraduate programs. He has published widely in the fields of transport research and policy and is a regular referee for
international journals and conferences.
Peter joined ITE in 1992 and has held various leadership
roles within ITE, including District 8 Coordinating Council Representative and Secretary, President and Immediate
Past President of the Australia and New Zealand Section. He also was Co-Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee
for ITE's 2005 Annual Meeting and Exhibit in Melbourne, Australia.

Don McKenzie
ITEANZ Executive Board Member
Don
is a Senior Associate with Traffic Design Group in Auckland, NZ.
Originally from Christchurch (home of the Super 14 Crusaders team),
Don has spent time in both the Wellington and Christchurch offices of
the firm before shifting to help lead the Auckland office of TDG. Don
is a father of two primary school-aged children and is married to
Catherine.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the
University of Canterbury and has over 15 years experience in the
traffic engineering profession in New Zealand.
He has been a member of ITE since 2003 and has also
been active within the IPENZ Transportation Group in New Zealand,
serving on both Branch and National Committees between 2002 and 2007.

Roger Dunn
ITEANZ Executive Board Member
BE (Civil), BSc (App.Maths), MEngSc
(Transport), and DipTP (Planning).
FIPENZ, FITE, FIHT.
Roger Dunn is an Associate Professor in the
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of
Auckland. As the Director of Transportation Engineering, he heads the
Transportation Research Group in the School of Engineering. He is
responsible for the teaching and research in the area of
transportation engineering and planning which comprises about 600
undergraduate and 125 post graduate course enrolees.
Roger has undertaken a wide range of research and
consulting projects - the latter have included assignments overseas as
well as in New Zealand. He is a member of the Editorial Panel for Road
& Transport Research Journal. His has strong interests in traffic
operations and management, and intelligent transport systems. Roger
has represented NZ on several ITS standardisation committees and has
been instrumental in setting up ITS NZ.
Roger joined ITE in 1969 and is a Fellow and Life
Member. He is a past Chairman of the Institution of Professional
Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) Transportation Group, a Fellow of IPENZ
and a Fellow of Institution of Highways and Transportation (UK).

Andrew Edgar
ITEANZ Executive Board Member
Andrew is a Senior Engineer in the Networks section
of the Policy and Planning group of Land Transport New Zealand.
Including in its previous incarnation as the Land Transport Safety
Authority, he has been with the organisation for 4 years. As a speed
limits specialist, Andrew has been the project manager for the
introduction of the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003
and currently for the Speed Zoning project. This project is looking at
the introduction of speed limits less than the default 100 km/h speed
limit on rural roads with the aim of developing a national policy.
Additionally, Andrew is involved in traffic control devices issues
including a number or proposed trials.
Previous to moving to New Zealand, Andrew worked for
ARRB Transport Research (now the ARRB Group) in Victoria, particularly
on computer applications for setting speed limits and road safety
audit projects. He started his career with FDF Management working on
the freight movements database FreightInfo and on other strategic
transport management projects. Andrew also has a Bachelor of
Engineering and a Master of Traffic from Monash University.
As well as being an ITE ANZ Executive Board Member,
Andrew is also a member of the Wellington branch committee of the
IPENZ Transportation Group. He has also been on the committee of the
Engineers Australia Victorian Transport Branch and was a founder
member of the young professionals section of the Chartered Institute
of Transport Victorian branch in the mid 90s.
Andrew joined ITE in 1995 as an Affiliate Member and
has been a full Member since mid 2005. He has been on the Executive
Board as a New Zealand Liaison from mid 2004.

Andrew O'Brien
ITEANZ Executive Board Member
Andrew
is the Managing Director of O'Brien Traffic. He has over 35 years
experience in the traffic engineering and road safety profession and
has been involved with the ITE Australian & New Zealand Section
since 1980.
He has made a major contribution to this section
performing the role of Secretary, Vice-President, and President.
Andrew was elected as the District 8 Director on ITE International
Board from 1996-1998. He has continued to serve on the local Board as
well as holding a number of ITE International administrative committee
positions.
Andrew was recognised by the ITEANZ with the Contribution
to ITE Award in 2005.
